Yugo Tomita

Yugo first came to the United States in 1983 as a high school exchange student. After graduating from high school in Florida, he went on to Boston University where he majored in Political Science and Philosophy. Yugo then enrolled in Claremont Graduate University, and in 1993 he received his Master of Arts in International Affairs. He earned his law degree at Loyola Law School, graduating in 1997 and passed the California State Bar Exam one year later.

During his graduate school years, Yugo worked for the immigration department of a large law firm, providing various research and translation services. After obtaining his license, Yugo worked as an attorney at the Mukai Law Office, where he was mainly responsible for helping Japanese corporations process visa applications. During that time, Yugo spoke at various seminars and published numerous articles in a wide variety of legal publications. He also practiced at the Tachikawa, Yasui, Nishizawa Law Office before opening his own law office in the spring of 2001.

Eriko Higa

Eriko spent her formative years in Japan, Bolivia, and the United States as a third-generation Japanese Bolivian. Her personal experiences of growing up as an immigrant across three continents inspired her to become an attorney who understands the challenges that immigrants face and advocates for their rights before the law. She joined Tomita Law Office in 2016.

Eriko is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, where she served as Managing Executive Editor of the Michigan Journal of International Law. In law school, she represented indigent clients as student attorney for the Low Income Tax Clinic and the Criminal Appellate Practice Clinic, and served as judicial intern for the Honorable Helene N. White of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Eriko regularly authors articles on immigration policy for a Japanese publication, and conducts seminars on business immigration for companies operating in the U.S.

Shingo Amano

Born in Hiroshima, Japan, Shingo came to the United States at the age of 6-months and grew up in Southern California. Upon graduating from University of California, Irvine, with a major in Political Science, Shingo enrolled in Chapman University, Fowler School of Law in 2012. As an intern at the Santa Ana Public Defender’s Office, Shingo began his legal studies in the field of Criminal Law. However, his interests soon changed after an internship program with Tomita Law Office during his second year of law school. Upon his graduation from Fowler School of Law, Shingo passed the California State Bar Exam in 2015. Shortly after passing the State Bar Exam, Shingo travelled to Japan to better understand his roots. After spending 4 years in Japan, he returned to California and rejoined the Tomita Law Office Team in 2020 as an associate attorney.
