米国国務省は、2025年9月2日付で非移民ビザ申請における面接免除の対象カテゴリーを変更します。

これにより、従来は郵送でのビザ申請が認められていた申請者も、原則として大使館・領事館での対面面接が必要になります。

面接免除の対象から除外されたのは以下のカテゴリーです。

• 14歳未満の子供

• 79歳以上の高齢者

• 同一ビザの更新（C1/D, E, F, M, J, H, O, P, Q, R, I, L）

以下の申請者は引き続き面接が免除されます。

• 外交・国際機関関係者向けの公用ビザ：A-1、A-2、C-3、G-1～G-4、NATO-1～NATO-6、TECRO E-1（台北経済文化代表処関係者向けビザ）

• B-1／B-2ビザ有効期限内の更新：前回のB-1、B-2、B1/B2ビザ、または国境通過カード／シール（メキシコ国籍者向け）が最長期間で発行され、かつ前回のビザ発給時に18歳以上であった方が、失効日から12か月以内に更新する場合。

【US Nonimmigrant Visa】 Updates to Interview Waiver Eligibility

Effective September 2, 2025, the U.S. Department of State will update the categories of applicants eligible for a waiver of the nonimmigrant visa interview. Most applicants who were previously able to apply for a visa by mail will now be required to attend an in-person interview with a consular officer.

As of the effective date, the following applicants will no longer qualify for an interview waiver: 

• Applicants under the age of 14

• Applicants over the age of 79

• Applicants renewing the same visa type (C1/D, E, F, M, J, H, O, P, Q, R, I, L)

However, the following applicants will remain eligible for an interview waiver:

• Diplomatic- or official-type visas: A-1, A-2, C-3, G-1 through G-4, NATO-1 through NATO-6, and TECRO E-1 (for personnel of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office)

• B-1/B-2 visa renewals: Applicants renewing a full-validity B-1, B-2, or B1/B2 visa, or a Border Crossing Card/Foil (for Mexican nationals), within 12 months of the prior visa’s expiration, and who were at least 18 years old when the prior visa’s issuance
