【Japanese Government Announcement】Easing of Travel Restrictions
On September 26, 2022, the Japanese Government announced an easing of the travel restrictions. As of October 11, 2022, the following measures will apply:
Restoration of the Visa Waiver Program
Rescission of Pre-Travel Applications Filed by Japanese Receiving Organizations
Japanese receiving organizations (employer, visa sponsor, travel agency, etc.) will no longer need to file applications in the Entrants, Returnees Follow-up System (ERFS) for new entry of foreign nationals into Japan.
Non-Japanese travelers will be able to visit Japan for tourism without package tours.
Rescission of On-Arrival Virus Test and Quarantine
Both Japanese and non-Japanese travelers, regardless of their place of departure, will no longer be required to have COVID test or quarantine upon their arrival to Japan.
Before boarding, all travelers must present qualifying vaccination certificate or pre-departure negative test result taken within 72 hours.
This measure is subject to change based on the status of the COVID-19 pandemic. Please make sure to check the latest information from the Japanese government prior to traveling to Japan.
